生化危機的「恐怖」將再進一步昇華。生化恐怖襲擊已蔓延到北歐、美國、以及中國，本作分別以7名主角和4個故事去描寫這場已發展到世界規模的生化災難。充滿著「恐怖」、「興奮」和「感動」的故事將戲劇性地互相交錯。
本作以「完全版」的形式登場，協力遊玩方面可與一名朋友CO-OP合作遊玩，而特定場面中更可與素未謀面的玩家(最多4名)一同遊玩。同時網羅最多可6人合作的「Survivor」模式等額外內容。劇情與遊戲的規模均為系列最大。
